Social Welfare Department

The Department of Social Welfare is a department of the Government of Karnataka Secretariat and is headed by the Honorable Minister of Social Welfare.The Principal Secretary to the Government is the head of the department. The department is staffed by Joint Secretaries to the Government, Deputy Secretaries to the Government, Head of the Legal Cell, Under Secretaries and Branch Officers, and employees of "C" and "D" cadres. The Social Welfare Department performs the functions prescribed under the Government of Karnataka (Management of Works) Rules, 1977. Administrative and service-related work is also carried out in relation to the following field departments and corporations/boards under the purview of the Social Welfare Department.
